Qualifications

Duties
- JOB TITLE: Front Desk Receptionist
- REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
The Front Desk Receptionist shall greet and assist and direct patients and visitors forthwith in a courteous and professional manner.
Primary responsibilities are checking in, registering, and checking out patients. The receptionist will escort patients or guardians through the paperwork required for the visit.
At follow-up visits, demographic and billing data will be checked for accuracy by the receptionist.
The work entails gathering patient demographics and insurance, verifying insurance coverage, and accurately entering such information into the electronic health record system.
The receptionist will bring all the registration forms to the patients, obtain appropriate signatures from patients or guardians on required consents and acknowledgments, and scan all completed registration forms into the electronic health record.
Browsing insurance websites and even taking the time to read coverage information, like plan overviews, copays, and primary care physicians, is also in the job description.
The receptionist will check whether pre-authorization or referral for medical necessity is required for the visit and help patients in updating their primary care physician if required. Admission to the sliding scale program will be scheduled for eligible patients, and information documented in the electronic health record. The position involves receiving and depositing payments for visits and cash reconciliations on a daily basis. In addition, the receptionist will schedule patient appointments based on the established criteria by the health center.
